El
Centro de Estudios Asiáticos de la Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile
anuncia e invita a participar en el 8° Seminario Internacional de Estudios
Coreanos (en adelante SIEC) en Santiago de Chile, los días 11 y 12 de noviembre de 2015. Patrocinado por la
Fundación Corea, y co-auspiciado por el proyecto VRI N°RS150020 de la Universidad, el Seminario se realizará en el Campus San Joaquín de la UC.
Para
analizar el contexto de estos tópicos, se han invitado a los siguientes expertos:
Dr.
Werner Pfennig, Dr. Adam Cathcart, Dr.
Pekka Korhonen y Dr. Todd Henry.
El
Dr. Werner Pfennig es Investigador
Asociado del Instituto de Estudios Coreanos y del Departamento de Historia y
Estudios Culturales de la Universidad Libre de Berlín, Alemania. Estudió
Ciencia Política e Historia contemporánea y su especialización es sobre la división,
normalización y unificación en los países divididos.
El
Dr. Adam Cathcart es conferencista en
historia china en la Universidad de Leeds, Inglaterra. Se especializa en
historia contemporánea de China, con un enfoque geográfico en Manchuria y su
énfasis de investigación está puesto en las relaciones del noreste asiático en
el periodo temprano de la Guerra Fría. Sus categorías principales son las
relaciones entre China y Corea del
Norte, relaciones sino-japonesas y relaciones culturales Este-Oeste.
El Dr. Pekka Korhonen de la Universidad de
Jyväskylä, Finlandia, es Doctor en
Ciencias Sociales de la misma casa de estudios. Sus temas de investigación se
relacionan con los procesos de integración Asia-Pacífico y políticas del Este
Asiático, entre otros. Sus temas más recientes son impugnaciones conceptuales
Este-Oeste y Música religiosa de Corea del Norte.
El
Dr. Todd Henry es un especialista en
Corea moderna, enfocándose en el
periodo de dominmoderno aponesa (1910-1945). También está interesado en las transformaciones
sociales y culturales que unen a Corea del Sur, Corea del Norte y Japón, y la
postguerra de Asia Pacífico (1945-presente) dentro de los contextos
geopolíticos del militarismo estadounidense y la Guerra Fría.
Otro
invitado especial es el historiador del arte Dr. Byungmo Chung, profesor del Departamento de Bienes Culturales
en la Universidad Gyeongju, Corea del Sur. Él fusiona tradición y modernidad al
analizar la pintura popular coreana.
Artículos escogidos de los seis seminarios anteriores fueron
publicados en los años 2010, 2012 y
2014. Desde 2014, se formó un comité editorial para revisar y seleccionar los
artículos presentados en el Seminario,
para ser incluidos en el libro. Este año, un segundo volumen de los ensayos
ganadores del Concurso de Ensayos UC sobre
Corea entre los años 2011 y 2014, será lanzado durante el Seminario en formato e-book. El primer
volumen fue publicado el año 2011.
Profesores e investigadores que deseen presentar un artículo
en el Seminario deberán enviar el título de su artículo propuesto y un resumen
de 300 palabras aproximadamente (en español o inglés), además de un breve
Currículum Vitae. El tema a tratar es abierto, y debe tener una mirada multidisciplinaria y un enfoque comparativo sobre Corea. Los
artículos deben ser originales y no haber sido
presentados antes en otras instancias.
Las propuestas deberán ser enviadas como un adjunto de correo
electrónico en formato MS Word (Fuente Times New Roman, tamaño de fuente 12, interlineado 1,5, márgenes de 2,5 cm.) a VIII
Seminario Internacional de Estudios Coreanos: seminariocoreauc@gmail.com. Por
favor, usar apellido como título del documento (gonzalez_a.doc, etc.). La fecha límite para la recepción de propuestas es el jueves 30 de julio de
2015.

Los artículos presentados serán seleccionados por el comité internacional del Seminario. Se
enviará una notificación de la aceptación del artículo el día 14 de agosto de 2015. De ser aceptado, la
confirmación de su asistencia deberá ser recibida el día lunes 30 de agosto y el artículo completo deberá
ser enviado a seminariocoreauc@gmail.com el miércoles
1 de octubre de 2015, con
imágenes/fotos en formato JPG y citas en formato APA.
No se requiere cuota de inscripción para el Seminario y un
descuento estará disponible, de ser necesario, en el hotel escogido por la Universidad
para alojamiento. Debido a que los recursos son limitados, los gastos de viaje
y transporte no están contemplados.

Achieving
peace after the WWII and the impact of the 20th Century World
history on Korean modernity before, during and after the War cannot be ignored
in any discussion of the countries’ Independence and Division of the Korean
Peninsula. To analyze the context of these topics, the following experts have
been invited to the 8th SIEC:
Dr.
Werner Pfennig, Dr. Adam Cathcart, Dr. Pekka Korhonen and Dr. Todd Henry.
Dr. Werner
Pfennig
is a Research Associate at the Institute of Korean Studies and Department of
History and Culture Studies at the Free University of Berlin, Germany. He
studied political science and contemporary history and his expertise is on
division, normalization and unification.
Dr.
Adam Cathcart is a Lecturer in Chinese History of the University of Leeds,
England. He specializes in contemporary Chinese history, with a geographic
focus on Manchuria and his research emphasis is on Northeast Asian interactions
in the early Cold War. His main categories are China-North Korea relations,
Sino-Japanese relations and East-West Cultural Relations.
Dr. Pekka Korhonen from the University of Jyvaskyla, Finland, is a social scientist. His topics of research are related to the integration process of Asia Pacific and East Asian Policy, among others. His more recent research topics are East West Conceptual Contestations and modern North Korean Religious Music.
Dr. Todd Henry is a specialist on modern Korea with a focus on the
period of Japanese Rule (1910-1945). He is also interested in social and
cultural formations linking post-Asia-Pacific War South Korea, North Korea, and
Japan (1945-present) within the geopolitical contexts of American militarism
and the Cold War.
Another
special guest is Art Historian Dr. Byungmo
Chung, professor of the Department of Cultural Assets at the Gyeongju
University, South Korea. He fuses
tradition and modernity in analyzing Korean Folk Painting.
Selected papers of the previous six Conferences were
published in 2010, 2012 and 2014, entitled Corea
una visión interdisciplinaria,Corea
un acercamiento multidiciplinario and Una
aproximacion humanista a los estudios coreanos, respectively. Since
2014, the Editorial Committee was formed to review and select the Conference papers
presented to be Included in the book. This year, a second volume of the winning
essays of this University’s Undergraduate Essay Contest on Korean Studies
(2011-2014) will be launched during the Conference as an e-book. The first
volume was published in 2011.
Professors
and researchers, affiliated with universities and/or research centers, who wish
to present a paper at the 8th Conference should send the title of their
proposed paper and an abstract of approximately 300 words (in Spanish or
English), plus a brief CV. The topic is open and should have a multidisciplinary
and comparative focus on Korea.
Proposals
must be submitted as an e-mail attachment in MS Word format (Times New Roman font,
